Smedvig Capital

Smedvig are a later-stage investor, for a business that already has significant revenues and is ready to build out internationally. They only do a few deals a year, so the quality threshold is high. They have deep pockets: as well as investing in tech companies, they also invest in funds.

Funding for growth

Invest directly into businesses, limited partners in group of other private equity funds.

“We invest £2m – £10m in fast-growing UK and Nordic businesses. We look for ambitious teams that are building businesses that have the potential to become market leaders. Our model is to invest in a small number of businesses each year and then to commit time to working closely with management, providing advice and hands-on help whenever they want it.”

First contact leads to an initial analysis of the business before a first meeting is arranged. Time is spent getting to know the business and entrepreneur/s behind it. Further analysis of the business is conducted, and further meetings arranged, before Smedvig considers investment. Investment decisions are made collectively by the team.
