Our vision is for Manchester to become a major tech cluster and a magnet for entrepreneurs who wish to start or grow a tech business.
There are many factors which need to come together to develop a joined up tech ecosystem embracing private, public and education sector partnerships. When Boston Consulting Group looked at London’s Tech City during 2014, they concluded that the following are necessary to build a digital city:
- A strong talent pipeline
- A vibrant tech community
- Magnet companies
- Local capital throughout the journey
- Robust and flexible infrastructure
- Coordinated city-government support
In our report, Technology Enterprise in Greater Manchester, we have documented how and where we have seen these building blocks come together. What Manchester needs to do now is develop its brand and a narrative and make a lot of noise. During our many meetings, the scope and scale of entrepreneurial activity and innovation has been striking. Our mission is to ensure this is talked about and promoted and the many valuable initiatives, which have previously remained hidden to many, are rightly seen as part of a successful and confident tech scene.
We wish to develop an open and collaborative network of people and organisations to support and promote tech enterprise across Greater Manchester and welcome your feedback and support. The report lists the people and organisations we met during its preparation and we have met may more since. We would like to hear from you, please Contact Us
